Democracy’s High Stakes

Directed & Produced by John Wellington Ennis

The cost of running for office makes candidates beg, borrow, and steal. So when big businesses are pouring money into influencing our leaders, can Americans still afford a voice in democracy?

Now, in the wake of the Supreme Court decision Citizens United, corporations have been pouring unlimited fortunes in campaign spending to affect candidates and legislation–without having to identify themselves, like people do.  PAY 2 PLAY explores the behind the scenes story to this sweeping decision, as well as the larger games at play in our elections.  The film follows underdog characters who take on the corporate system through politics, investigations, and street art.

PAY 2 PLAY: Democracy’s High Stakes shows how our elections encourage extortion, and how to stop it.
